Have you considered selling this design plan, complete with room, furniture and built in dimensions? - Clearly you have hit a home run with this plan but many of us are too far to use you as a designer. Have you considered selling this design plan that is already done, complete with dimensions of the room, built ins, furniture, fireplace, rug and swatches of the soft textiles and paint and vendors of off the shelf items. So many of us would like to emulate the design in our own homes. Well done Paul this is exactly what my husband and I are looking for in a living room! »
Paul Moon Design Thank you for the kind words. This house is unique to a specific site, and was designed with the Owners in mind. We could never re-sell the plan. We do many projects remote and with technology the physical location of our office is less of a restriction. The furnishings were done by Susan Marinello Interior Design and many of the pieces were custom made for the Owner.
Marble sealer.. Has anyone tried the product DryTreat? - I'm thinking of using a marble tile backsplash, and having it sealed. Am wondering about this product DryTreat. It has a 15 yr. warranty. »
senators11 I have used the product Dry Treat on my kitchen marble counter top and I highly recommend it. I prevents food stains from penetrating and also stops water marks that you will see on Marble if left untreated. You still have to be careful with marble, I have never left red wine on the counter for hours at time. I would use it on all marble surfaces in the house.
trim color - Hi,
This is so beautiful. Can you please tell me the color and of the trim, ceiling, etc. I would love to paint my walls this color and possibly the trim, and am wondering if I should do the trim in sem-gloss or same as wells. Thank you! »
Hardwood Creations Hi I'm a cabinet designer and although there is no TV placed in this view, a lot of times, we design it either where the artwork is here or on either side of the fireplace in one of the built-ins in such a way that you can make it interchangeable with which side of the fireplace you want the TV by making adjustable/removable shelves.
What make/model of fireplace/insert is that? - Trying to find an insert for our fireplace renovation... love the look of the liner (white, herringbone brick). »
COASTROAD Hearth & Patio - I'm going to jump in here before Paul Moon wakes up in Seattle . . . Great looking project!
It appears to me that the fireplace in the photo is one of Town & Country's clean face, flush hearth, direct vent gas fireplaces with the Park Avenue herringbone firebrick panels. Although Town & Country was the first to make a gas fireplace look this good, there are a lot of other choices these days for similar fireplaces.
Your local National Fireplace Institute expert should be able to help you find what you need for your project: http://nficertified.org
struggling with upholstery color....love this one - My carpet is the same color and the built in"s are also. The walls are similar to the carpet in color. do I need to go with a darker color for the couches or can I stay neutral with a colored otto and pillows. How would a shade of blue look with 2 couches facing one another. »
livingroom - my dream livingroom!!! went to the furniture website but couldn't find the chairs...what make & fabric? am getting my remodel on this coming month & am doing(stealing) this design.... »
cissy7970 My livingroom is almost similar. I have stairs on one side, back door opposite of stairs [that wall also has the fireplace] and the dining room directly behind it. How would you suggest I design it? I love sectionals and I am thinking about getting an upright piano. Help!!!
Where can I find an iron drapery rod like this? - I have a triple window 150 inches wide. The sun comes in unbelievably during the day! I want to be able to open and shut the curtains like you have in this picture. »
Are the built-in cabinets custom? What kind of wood and paint color/finish was used for them? I'm getting bids on the same kind of built-ins and live in the Seattle area if you have a contact. »
H2D Architecture + Design There are several different ways you can go with the cabinets - either custom or semi-custom. Semi-custom, try Canyon Creek in Seattle - custom you may want to try 7 Hills Design.
Hemphill's Rugs & Carpets It appears to be seagrass or jute with a cotton binding. You can get some close up views of products like this at www.RugsAndCarpets.com/sisal-rugs.html
bepsf Some of us feel that a pair of dinky rods looks silly - at least with a long rod, one has the option of hanging operable draperies at a future point in time.
marilynchristine I have used a 2" wood dowel, they come in many lengths at the hardware store; it's strong enough to span the distance and hold the weight of almost any fabric. You can paint or stain (or just varnish) the wood. The finials are up to your own imigination!
Would this 'predominantly white' look good with really high vaulted ceilings? - I love white but am afraid it may be too much for a large space like mine....kitchen 9" family as well as the dining 2 story high vaulted , open stairs / foyer at the same height. I am overwhelmed to say the least with all the decisions....
Pls suggest. Thanks and kind regards, »
Would this look work with dark brown leather furniture? - I love this look and am wanting to recreate it while on a budget. I already own dark brown leather couches and club chairs. Recreating all else similar to this picture, will it look ok to repurpose my furniture? Or will the dark brown be too heavy? »
Gorgeous work Paul! Sorry to ask but, What paint color is on the ceiling ? - I are the beams same color as cloud white as the flat parts of the ceiling?? Do you mind to share it, I have read the other post to not bother you, but I haven't seen anything about the ceiling colors. Thank you in advance. »
This is by far our favourite look of the examples we have found. Like the clean lines of the fireplace millwork and built in. Rick likes the black tile on inside of millwork, I prefer a lighter colour. Again, we prefer that the tv is not above fireplace if possible (maybe on some sort of swivel?)
