Susan Jay Design Hi Lavender78 ! The pillows are 18" squares and if you are asking for the exact dimensions of the
seat cushion, unfortunately, that I don't have the exact dimensions on, but I can tell you, we did a 5" boxing with welting on the top and bottom and it's approximately 4 ft x 4 ft. The fill is a foam core with a down wrap.
Thanks for the inquiry !
The depth includes the shelf? - Hi Suan, you mentioned that 'The width is 64" and the depth from front to back is 72" ', does the depth include the depth of the shelf at the back, which is 11"? »
Noook - I have an inlet in my room like this one. I don't know where to even start with creating a space like this. Can you give me any advice. How can I get the seat in my space? »
julieewing What a great idea! I just removed a wet bar and was wondering what to do with the space. I'm going to show my contractor and go for it. The kids will love to sit with their laptop or read a book. It will create some interest in the room too. Thank you!!!
fabric - I think that the sofa fabric is by Ralph Lauren. The last time I saw it in a retail fabric store, it was priced at $167/yard! Does anyone have any thoughts on how to buy this fabric at a lower price? »
Susan Jay Design It is Ralph Lauren...and we purchase thru Kravet Fabrics @ Trade pricing, so I'm not certain where it could be obtained for less...:-( sorry
Susan Jay Design This was my client's own find, so I couldn't tell you for certain...but I'm imagining that you could do a search online for them. I know that I saw some great things at the Santa Anita Racetrack gift shop when I was there....good luck with your treasure hunt!
Susan Jay Design Thanks ya'all...it was a really fun room to design with my client for her private study. It's a place where she reads to her grandchildren !
Annie Thornton The designer keyworded this photo as "converted closet," so I believe you are right. This once was a closet. How resourceful! If I had enough storage space, I would love to have one of these.
Susan Jay Design It was a closet in the room behind the Family Room but unneeded so I created a space for a grandma to read to her granddaughter. Thanks for asking!
Susan Jay Design It is a Ralph Lauren fabric that is discontinued now. They currently have lots of plaids to choose from so check them out. Thanks for asking.
Simple bookshelves built along each wall, with plush seating in the center, can turn a large unused closet space into another room altogether. The unusual color ties it into the whole space yet sets it apart. For how sophisticated and intricate a space it can become, this can be a manageable diy project.
I absolutely love the idea of converting closets into active living space. The closet here has been converted into a small library with a built-in reading nook. It's comfy, cozy, functional and fun.
Built-in Bookshelves. Like desks, built-in shelves are both good-looking and functional.

Any ideabook about cozy would be sadly remiss if it didn't include this wonderful library nook. I especially love the red velvet cushion...now where's that curtain?
When speak of reading nooks as retreats I usually mean that psychologically. This one takes that sentiment literally and provides an actual retreat. I can see grandkids sneaking away in this space and letting their imaginations soar.
Convert a deep closet into a hideaway space. If you don't need the closet in a home office or guest bedroom, turn it into a sitting area. Take off the doors and add built-in drawers across the bottom of the closet to create a bed-height bench and provide extra storage. Install good overhead lighting and shelves for books, then paint the interior and trim in a warm color. Throw pillows that invite family and friends to sit, read and relax finish off the space.
1. The reading nook. Coziness is priority number one. Add books, good lighting and a rainy Sunday and you've got yourself a little slice of perfection.
5. Book nook. Transform a closet into a library oasis by installing wall shelves to store your favorite reads. Tuck a bench and pillows inside for comfort while reading.
