My living room walls are of a more muted/lighter yellow. Although I like the striking puprple couch, what other colors for a couch would go well for my wall color. Any color suggestions for the acent pillows and an area rug color pattern would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. »
outboard I have a beautiful velvet type green couch in my family room/living room with heavy tassle surrounding the bottom -- (sort of a forest green shade) I need two comfortable chairs to go with. I have an ottoman that goes with the couch - large and fat. I also have a swirly flowery rug with green, and the color of the couch shown above with yellow and tan. The rug is thick and beautiful also. Would it look okay if I had two comfy style chairs made in the color of the couch look good in the room?? or to bold? or should I go with a design using the colors of the rug. Thank you.

It's been awhile since color theory class so I don't know why yellow and purple are working so well here, but WOWZA! How fab are those purple crystals that seem to drip down onto the purple sofa? Simply divine!
Oh, and if you remember color theory class, please tell me what their relationship is in the comments section!
Violet glass drops give this chandelier tons of presence and they also complement the yellow wall color.
Tip: Do you already have a chandelier but wish it had more personality? You can purchase individual, colored crystals and add them to your existing fixture.
Take your room’s makeover further by reupholstering your furniture in a complementary color, such as purple. The yellow will become that much more distinct, making your room both sunny and spectacular.
The Tuscan can be livened a little with the addition of fluting and pedestals. Paired up, these columns are used as points defining functional areas in what appears to be one large room.
Classic lines don't aways have to stick to neutrals and pastels. A very traditional room (check out the columns) in playful yellow and purple is a pleasant surprise.
Color also tends to immediately stand out in today's designs. Many interiors today have a transitional style that can be hard to peg or can appeal to many different tastes. Color is completely different and warrants an opinion right off the bat.
