Living room - eclectic loft-style living room idea in San Francisco with a corner fireplace

Sisal rug, linen custom drapes, slip-covered custom Belgian linen sofa, vintage leather arm chairs with sisal pillows, custom green upper office cabinetry, dark stained floors

We designed this family room in a space which does not get much light, and is long and slightly narrow. It has a sloped ceiling so we painted it white and put in LED lights. The blue and white theme is evident in the dark accents walls, fabrics and velvet sofa. A black edged sisal rug grounds the seating area, and the tortoise roman shades add to the ethnic feel of the room. The TV is hidden in a carved armoire made from old teak ships. Charcoal gray behind the book cases and a gray carved mirror added more sophistication to the space.

This reading area was designed around the beautiful blue bibliothèque, which is undoubtedly the focal point of the room. The furnishings around it were chosen with a neutral palette so as to not overpower the focal point. Yet, they have gracious lines and finishes found in French furnishings and interiors.

From frumpy to fantastic! Mint Interior Design worked hand in hand with this design client to turn his builder-grade loft in a comfortable, sophisticated, layered space that is full of his collections and perfect for entertaining - and his life. We took the entire design vertical - most lofts do not use the top half of the available space.
