About Us

ABOUT US Arcadia Design Blueprint is a professional design and construction document company that provides estimates from several licensed general contractors, who specialize in remodeling and custom homes in the greater Phoenix Arizona area. We service both homeowners and other general contractors with professional designs, estimating. Our specialties include major whole house remodeling, guest homes and casitas, room additions, kitchen remodeling, high end master suites and bathrooms, second stories, and basements. COMPANY PROFILE Michael Gilson, the managing member and qualifying party, has been in the Phoenix area since 1979. He was involved in solar energy and home energy conservation through 1985. In 1986 he received his first general contractor license. In 1994 he formed Accurate Estimating Services to assist general contractors with professional home designing, remodeling estimating, and obtaining through the city, building permits. The demand for these services has led us to form Arcadia Design Blueprint as a full service residential design build company. Our company philosophy is to combine all the elements of major remodeling and custom home building under one roof. We have on premises structural designers, interior designers, landscape designers, professional estimators, and full blueprinting and on site reprographic services. I provided this gentleman with my floor plan, already designed. He came out to my house, took measurements, and told me that while he was not an architect, he was a draftsman and could put my floor plan into a CAD program that he would use to provide us with an estimate. He asked for no materials, and very little detail. After about 8 days, I got a text message saying, "I can do the job for between $300K-$350K." That's it. No drafted plans. No written estimate. No other explanation. Not very thorough. Not very professional, in my opinion. Needless to say, we did not hire this contractor.

I did see Mr. Lawrence. I did look at his plan. I did give him a range of estimated pricing. Then I never heard from him again. He was never promised any drafted plans. He never indicated if these number were in his budget or not. We usually do not due written estimates without knowing is these initial estimates are in the clients price range

Mike and Arcadia Builders added on to our existing guest house. He is the first contractor that I have had work on my property. My wife and I built our house and guest house ourselves ,every nail and board. It was not easy to allow somebody else do the work. They were always professional and were there from design to completion. They were easy to talk to and always were there to answer any questions. The super was knowledgable and approachable and the subs were all professional. They were prompt kept the job clean and kept the project on time. I have no reservations on recommending them, in fact i have several times.You can contact me at anytime for more info.

Mike provided us with plans for our complete remodel of our 1960 home that we had just purchased. The plans consisted of removing walls, relocating wall, relocting windows and tearing off existing porch to rebuild a new one. We could not be happier with what Mike created. Mike also designed our plans for our previous home, which we were just as satisfied.

Michael designed and built our house in McCormick. http://arcadiadb.com/ The house was originally built in the mid-70s and had not been touched till we bought it and remodeled in 2010. Michael and his crew did a phenomenal job. What a transformation!! I have before and after pictures of our house. His work on our house resulted to 2 other jobs in our immediate area, that I know of. I would not be surprised if there were more. FYI - I am not benefiting from this review. We just truly are happy with Michael's work. Good luck!

We used Arcadia Design Build to help us with our home remodeling and addition plans. Michael's knowledge in design and construction was extremely helpful when it came to the layout, sizing rooms, city codes etc. We also needed a variance for our addition and Michael went to the city and spoke on our behalf in which he successfully gained approval to move forward with our job.

We used Arcadia Design Build for a kitchen remodel and are very happy with the results. We got several bids and decided to go with Arcadia. Mike's use of the laptop CAD system allowed us to get a visual of what the remodel could look like. The work crews were extremely respectful and cleaned up the work area daily. The budget projections were right on target and scheduling was timely, no long delays. Mike's crews are clean and courteous. A scheduling calendar was provided which made it easy to see "What's next?" I would recommend Arcadia for your design project, we have "No Regrets" and would hire them again, in fact we have!

We hired Arcadia Design Build after interviewing three other companies and were by far the most professional. When we made the appointment we were clear with our time constraints, which we were assured wouldn't be a problem. Our house was a full remodel, as we took the property down to the studs in all but two rooms. Mike made our decision event easier when he arrived with his computer and began working on our remodel design on his first visit! He was able to take our ideas and show us a three dimensional view of what our house could look like using the CAD design system. We signed the contract the same day and have not regretted it! After four months we are back in the house and couldn't be happier! We would highly recommend this company! Doug & Karen W.

ArcadIa Design & Build has just completed our remodel and they were just excellent. They were flexible and easy to work with realizing changes do occur. The design phase was made easy with the use of CAD (computer assisted drawings). We were able to visualize a rendering of the build out before design approval. They provided an estimate of the cost which was very close to outcome, most variances were caused by our desire to upgrade. They provided a planning calendar which was adhered to and kept the project on time and budget. I would recommend Arcadia Design. Howard Korwes retired CFO

Michael built me a 600 sf extension of my home. It is an extra living quarter with bathroom, closet and built-in home theater. They started in around end of year 2012 and finished the construction in Feb 2013. Their people are professional. I am happy with the quality of their work. I can recommend them for your new home project.
