what is the color of the ceiling and wall? - I love the pink ceiling. We are in the process of paint our daughter room. I hate the idea of pink room, but this pink ceiling look fab. »
House of L Interior Design The headboards appear to have been custom made to be integrated with the walls and fit seamlessly with the surrounding moldings; however Pottery Barn Kids and PB Teen have a lot of great retail options and offer beds featuring upholstered headboards with drawer systems underneath which emulate this design but are easily available. The duvet covers might have been custom made as well, but try www.serenaandlily.com or www.dwellstudio.com for more fun retro-inspired patterns such as this for bedding.
Where can I purchase the pouf??? - I absolutely love the leather pouf in this room. Can you please let me know where I can purchase it. Many thanks!! »
height of curtain rod - Just looking for guidance on the height of curtain rod over french LRoom doors with light panels on either side. This and a few others show the rod right at the top under the molding. »
Fleur designs The best way to draw attention to the height of your ceilings would be to place the rod as high as possible. In this room, placing it right under the crown molding allows the curtain panels to create the illusion of higher ceilings. If your room has low ceilings and you have no crown molding, you would take the rod to the very top of the wall. Be careful not to allow the drape to lift off the floor. Rule of thumb, it needs to hit the floor or break at the floor. Never let them float off the finished floor, they will look like poorly hemmed pants. Good luck.
Would love to replicate this look for my twin boys in our new house. Are the beds and the storage unit in between the beds custom? Would love to order exact same! »
Fleur designs See the pottery barn kids Belden bed for the same idea. you use the bottom as a platform and then create a fabric headboard for behind the head. I have twins too. See www.ziccibea.com for an adorable reversible red white and blue bedding set to use for twin boys. Each can get their own look. Lots of luck
Can you tell me what color the ceiling & tan wall is? I just got the paint color suggested by someone else, the BM Raspberry Mousse & it looks florescent, not the same. Love this room! Thank you! »
Poufs: Are they comfortable to sit on and practical? I love the way they look, not sure if people actually use them? since I think they are somewhat less high than stolls (i.e. 18")? THANKS! »
Beautiful crown moulding - What is the height of the ceiling? Love the crown moulding in this room. Want to do crown moulding for 8 ft. ceilings. This is beautiful!! »
actually i want 2 ask that can we copy this whole design in a room of 9 by 12 feet? - we r making a new house so i anted my room 2 look like this 1 its really fabulous »
Was the shelf/night stand built to suit and does it cover an architectural or detail that couldn't be removed? - I'm curious since it has intake vent size and this is a great way to maintain access and hide something in plain sight if not. »
This room is neopolitan from floor to ceiling, though the pinks are a bit more raspberry than strawberry. The designer added a small bit of orange to the neopolitan palette via throw pillows and an exotic design on the bottom of the window treatments.
Give your room a bold infusion of personality through color. The deep color brought in through the ceiling catches your eye, while similar shades of it pull the color down the walls and to the floor.
In this kids' room design, built-in shelving offers the illusion of privacy. Each child has space to call her own, yet they are close enough for the pair to still enjoy each other's company.
If you want a room to visually pop, consider the ceiling. Painting it a bold magenta makes it feel cheery and chic, regardless of whether the sun has set.
There are so many clever design features in this bedroom: the raspberry ceiling, the built-in shelves (which take the place of a pair of nightstands), the cozy mix of lighting and the bed frames with architectural drawers that are perfect for extra storage. I'd also love to steal that Moroccan pouf!
In this bedroom, built-in shelving provides a sense of privacy and separation between the two double beds. If the beds take up much of the room's space, utilize the room beneath them to create as much storage as possible, like the designer did in this example.
2. Figuring out how to decorate a teenager's room can be a challenge. They want something fun and colorful, and you want something that'll go with the rest of your home — and something you won't have to redecorate in a year. Users loved the sleek built-ins in this teenage girls' bedroom, the smart use of colorful textiles, and the playful pink ceiling.
Consider an accent ceiling instead of an accent wall for a bold color that would be too much for the whole room. A strong color like this can actually make a room feel out of balance when used on a single wall, but up above it give the room punch without overwhelming. The white crown molding provides sharp definition.
Focus on color.Look over your inspiration images, this time paying special attention to color. Are there certain colors or color pairings that show up often? Are you more drawn to rooms with richly colored walls or spaces where color is an accent?
The Painted CeilingMany people think painting a ceiling makes a room feel close or small. This vivid pink ceiling establishes the color scheme for the room and draws the eye up, making the room seem bigger. So there.
The lights are a great choice for a child's room. Using them for reading means the light is directed at the book and won't disturb a roommate. More: Anglepoise Lamps: Where Beauty Meets IndustrySaving Space Stylishly With Swing Arm Lamps
love the creative book shelf and good idea for the beds/storage etc. - this idea is what I'm looking for in the baseroom as well - creative use of space for storage
Take a trip down memory lane.
Think back to your childhood home, and anywhere else you spent a great deal of time. What about the space itself do you remember most fondly? I loved a round table full of family photos my grandmother kept in her entry hall; I always paused there to look at the old black and white photos. Today I might take this idea and give it a fresh spin by placing loose photos in a bowl — more my style, but still honoring the memory.
