82forest where can i find this type of sofa? The sofa and chairs would be perfect for my small 1960's dated ranch home living room. Rather than fight the dated look of the home with modern furniture, I think I should white wash the dark brick wall and try to add vintage looking pieces and go with a vintage look? Only fear is that fine line of looking vintage modern and not vintage old
pammyt1009 I just ordered this sofa yesterday from a Chicago area furniture store Walter E. Smithe. I am so excited because the style is so much different than the skirted/rolled arm that I currently have. My house is a 50's style ranch, after living in it for 17 years I too have decided to go with the house style and give it a hip vibe. This sofa is deep cushioned and extremely comfortable too! Come on 6 weeks..
Furniture placement question.. - This may seem an odd question, but is there a gap behind the sofa under the mirror? I have a smallish room and am trying to decide on furniture to buy and placement and whether or not I'm wasting space by not putting things against walls?
Thank you!! »
mjzurita May I suggest to move the sofa back just a bit.move one of the floor lamps to other side. Add an end table with a table lamp in its place. Also it's hard to see the rug color. Maybe one with more grays to help anchor the cocktail Otto. Pretty room.
It looks wonderful in this fabulous room by Heather Garrett Design!

The couch has been tagged as by Bernhardt and the lighting options have been tagged as from Oly Studios. We don't carry either yet but we are expanding and adding new vendors all the time so if there is something you have your eye on we could help you find it and I'm sure Heather Garrett Design could as well.
I am not sure about Bernhardt but I know Oly Studios items take about 10-16 weeks to ship (definitely worth the wait!)
If you are looking for items with a shorter lead time, please feel free to browse our collections at www.essentialsinside.com

Heather Garrett Design Hi, The paint is "Durability" by Pratt and Lambert. The mirror is available though our store. You can email us at marketing@hetahergarrettdesign.com for ordering info. Thanks.
I am about to paint my living room durability by Pratt and Lambert. I would like to know the color of the fireplace, molding and ceiling so I may do my molding, fireplace and bookcases the same color. You mentioned chatsworth cream by Benjamin Moore so I looked that up and it looks a lot different, is that the color?? »
Heather Garrett Design Hi, Another member of Houzz replied that the trim color looked like Chatsworth Cream, but it is not. The color of the trim is more bone white - Chantilly Lace, by Ben. Moore.
maegankozlak Thank you!! I will go with that color. This room is breathtaking! I can't wait until my room is done, this being my inspiration. I will definitely upload pictures. You are a fabulous designer!!
I'm crazy about this room. In fact, the room dimensions, fireplace and placement of the window is identical to my living room! My question is, if this room were to also include a dining room (behind the chairs) do you have suggestions of the type of dining room furniture to use? My area also has french doors on the fireplace wall. Would you use two chandeliers: the drum light over the table between the chairs and then another light over the dining room table? »

Heather Garrett Design The sconces are not electrified, they are candles, so they are not roughed in. However the base of the candle holder is approximately 12" from the top of the mantle.
the fire place design. I am looking for a design that would look and blend in with my tan 12" tiles with a wood mantel and tile going down the sides, that are 2'' squares with a deeper brown color. got any suggestions? This is built in gas fireplace that is already installed, the design is not the great. »

Linda Anthony well, I live in an 1833 farmhouse and the FR/every day eating area, has wide horizontal plank boards topped with a chair rail. Love the wall color but what color should I paint the bottom half of the room? My leather couch and chair are light colored BUT I also have antique oak pieces (ice box, bakers cupboard, Hoosier cupboard, wash stand which holds the tv, & two other occasional antique stands) Should my window and door trim be the same as the bottom planks (as it is now)? The room has one large window (four long narrow windows connected to appear as one), outside door, door-way into kitchen, door to entry hall, door-way to LR, door to basement, and three smaller windows (all connected - shorter windows) facing out to the back porch. Whew! BTW, the ceilings are a few inches short of 8' and the trim along the ceiling is NOW painted to match the bottom half of the room as well. Was thinking ceiling would look taller if painted same color as the walls. Exactly what is the modern thinking on that type of trim?
love the room!! placing the sofa facing the fireplace...would that make the room seem even smaller....and how - My living room looks just like this but the windows are a little shorter. The wall facing the fireplace in my home ...there is no wall...this is where the front door is... coming from the wall behind the sofa....the room seem to be about the same size....my question is ....placing the sofa facing the fireplace...would that make the room seem even smaller....and how do you know what size sofa is the right size for the room? »
Open concept color pallet - I have an open floor concept kitchen, denn and living room. I really like the color you have on the walls. What colors would you recomend for the denn and kitchen. »
A palette of linens and grays feels luxurious thanks to a glamorous mirror-framed round mirror and what's now, thanks to this photo, my new obsession: mercury glass demijohns.
This elegant living room is full of subdued color and carefully placed reflective surfaces; check out the clever relationship between the mirror, pendant, floor vases and sconces. They all bounce light around and please the eye with their round shapes.
6. A room can reflect the VIP in you. Do you have one room in your home that makes you feel uniquely elegant? I can imagine hosting many VIP nights in a room like this. From the glam overhead pendant to the large shiny mirror, sconces and vases, all reflecting beautifully off deep gray-toned walls; it has all the bells and whistles of a roped-off private party.
1. Create mood lighting. Poor lighting — whether too dark or too light — is an instant mood killer at any get-together. You want guests to feel comfortable, but you also want to keep the area light enough so that everyone can see. Layer different types of lighting and bring in lamps at different heights. Make sure all the light bulbs are working and replace any burned-out bulbs. If you don't have lamps to bring in, dim your overhead lights and light some candles. It will look and feel much more cozy.
2. The designer's blend of a soothing and neutral palette with glamorous and eye-catching lighting inspired users to create their own classically elegant living room.
Consider gray for your walls. Gray has been a hot color for several seasons now, and it’s not going away soon. As a neutral, it’s incredibly versatile, and it gives an air of sophistication to practically any type of furnishing. Plus, there is just something about the way color and pattern stand out against this shade that really makes gray rooms feel fantastic. How to Pick the Right Gray Paint
Throw the room some curves. Round off the sharp edges and straight lines to create a more welcoming room. For example, check out the way these chairs would wrap hugs around anyone sitting in them.
