A special way to keep dog dishes out from underfoot. Dogbone drawers hold treats, leashes and other supplies. Pullout cabinet on left of island holds bulk dogfood.

Bone handles - Where do I find the bone drawers and the labels for the other cabinets (ie snacks. Chips. Etc) »
· Comment · 2 months ago
Artisan Kitchens LLC Hi,

The dog bone shapes are actually cutouts, not handles, and the labels were engraved in the drawerheads (the engraved areas were then painted a slightly darker shade of blue to highlight the letters).

So - it was all done right in the wood itself, nothing is surface applied.

Artisan Kitchens LLC The pendants are from Schoolhouse Electric: http://www.schoolhouseelectric.com/lighting-and-hardware/fixtures/pendant/rhondes-4.html with this company you purchase the fixture and the shade separately so the shade shown here is different from the above link. The finish here is polished nickel.

Dog bowls - There are three bowls. 1 is usually for food, the other water....why a third? Shouldn't there be an even amount? »
· Comment · 4 months ago
Artisan Kitchens LLC At the beginning of the project there were 3 dogs, during the remodel one of them died (not related to the construction!) and it ended up with the 2 outer bowls being used for food and the central one for water.

Of course you can tailor the design to however many bowls you need.

Artisan Kitchens LLC I can't help you with technical questions regarding saving pictures to your ideabooks. That's something you'd have to ask the Houzz folks.

And I'm sorry, but I don't understand the rest of your question either!

marthachavira What u can do is click on the share button then select share by email. Send yourself the link. Then in your email click on the link it will take you to the pic and then click on the pic and select save image and it should go to your camera roll. This is of course if you have an iPhone or iPad. Not sure if it will work on an android since I don't have one.

· · Comment · 5 months ago
Artisan Kitchens LLC In the kitchen above, the surface around the dog dishes is the same lacquer that is on the rest of the cabinetry. On a subsequent project I added a new feature - stainless steel around the bowls to protect the surface better.

The picture below shows it in detail. This setup is actually for a dog, but don't you love how the Maine Coon cat photobombed himself in?

is up keep on the butcher block top difficult. does it stain or mark from spills? »
· Comment · 16 months ago
Artisan Kitchens LLC This particular top has been sealed with a special sealer, so it needs to be treated somewhat carefully - no cutting on it! The sealer makes it more resistant to water, which is important because of the sink.

You can also leave butcherblock unsealed, in which case it can be oiled with mineral oil to deepen the color and add a small amount of resistance to water and other liquids, but it will never be completely impervious to staining. Butcherblock can be sanded down to repair scratches and scars.

Some people like the patina that comes with usage and wear. If you don't, and prefer a material that always looks pristine, this may not be the surface material for you.

misterhoyle You just need a float valve like you would use in a toilet or a pond or a fountain and then a gravity feed like the two part dog water dishes. That is where my imagination ends and the how to sanitize issue comes in. A good plumber is your best bet. Sorry, but I can't see this as a DIY project.
abiddle Google "Nelson waterers". They've used this idea for horses and cattle for many years, and recently added a dog waterer to their products. We have horses and the waterers have lasted over 10 years outdoors. The stainless steel bowls are under a lipped cover that releases easily for cleaning. I haven't seen the dog waterers in action, but we rinse the hose bowls daily - so I can say it is easy.

Artisan Kitchens LLC The material for this ceiling comes in big stamped-metal panels (usually 24" square) that are applied with glue or nails. Some companies even make them for use in standard dropped ceilings. Try this website: http://www.americantinceilings.com/pattern/?gclid=CIOKr6-o7q0CFQnd4AodmlJ97Q for more info.

Unfortunately the stain color was a custom mix so I can't give you an exact name, but it was made from a composite of Minwax colors.

No. 12: For the Dogs. Finding a place for dog bowls and dog food storage is a constant challenge... as anyone who has kicked the water bowl and soaked their socks will tell you. 2. Containing the dry food mess. These home owners came up with a sensible solution to control the mess that comes with dog food (and three dogs!). A built-in dog food station prevents bowls from tipping over and food from spilling on to the floor or into water bowls. The drawers above the eating station can conveniently house dog food and treats.

3. There are tons of great built-in storage ideas in this adorable seaside kitchen. The dog dish nook is an especially clever storage solution that keeps dog dishes out of the way and prevents your puppies from knocking over their food! The dog drawer bones above hold treats and food, and labeled deep drawers to the right of the island are packed with treats for these lucky pups' owners.
Keep food and treats tidy by setting aside an organized spot to keep dry food fresh. This custom setup has three drawers for treats and food right above the feeding area. This is a beautiful solution to a messy problem, but a large airtight plastic container near your pet's feeding area will do the trick just fine. Keep your pet's food right next to the feeding spot. The less you have to tote their food bag around the house, the less mess you'll create.
