wallpaper is a great idea - have you coated it / painted it with something? - We have timber treads and risers just painted a light grey at the moment, but want to liven it up and also find something that will not mark too quickly (I've been wondering about rubber?!) How do you stop the wallpaper risers from being scuffed by shoes or being ruined by cleaning the stairs (eg mopping or vacuuming)? »
Vanillawood Hello! This is not coated in any primer or sealant; it's installed like regular wallpaper. If you're concerned about durability, you could use a vinyl wallpaper which is more durable than paper based and can be wiped clean with a damp sponge.
would this color wallpaper look good with a natural wood step?? - i see you sell it in other colors but i love this color.... would it look ok with natural wood steps...??? bamboo strand natural? also just one roll for a normal staircase i presume? »
Vanillawood We would probably suggest the black/white version with natural wood steps over this taupe/white. Yes, one roll is 11 yards long and should easily cover standard steps. We can provide wallpaper samples for you to see in your space before purchasing a roll as well. Just give our studio a call at 503-327-8065 to request samples!
carpet - I really like the carpet in this photo but don't have the vocabulary on how to ask if someone carries it locally here in Philadelphia. Anyone know who makes a pattern like this? Vendor name maybe? »
littleorchard I want to achieve this silver ageing effect on our staircase and handrail. Can anyone suggest the best wood we use to build it with, and how to achieve this colour without it chipping?
Make a woodsy staircase with your leftover wallpaper. That same gorgeous Cole & Son paper (shown here in a different colorway) turns a plain staircase into a focal point in this home. Apply wallpaper to the risers and paint the steps in a matching shade for a seamless look.
