Calacatta marble floor tile was installed in a diamond pattern in the hall bathroom and a coordinating basketweave mosaic was used in the large walk-in shower. We opted to use classic white subway tile on the shower walls and the fixed frameless glass enclosure keeps the space feeling light and airy. Relocating the shower controls to the side wall ensures that the water can be turned on without getting wet.

No strangers to remodeling, the new owners of this St. Paul tudor knew they could update this decrepit 1920 duplex into a single-family forever home. A list of desired amenities was a catalyst for turning a bedroom into a large mudroom, an open kitchen space where their large family can gather, an additional exterior door for direct access to a patio, two home offices, an additional laundry room central to bedrooms, and a large master bathroom. As for the aesthetic, this was inspired by a deep appreciation for the durability, colors, textures and simplicity of Norwegian design. The home’s light paint colors set a positive tone. An abundance of tile creates character. New lighting reflecting the home’s original design is mixed with simplistic modern lighting. To pay homage to the original character several light fixtures were reused, wallpaper was repurposed at a ceiling, the chimney was exposed, and a new coffered ceiling was created. This bathroom is transitional because it has traditional motifs all applied in a modern way. It's classic and elegant clean lines create a spa-like feeling. The white cabinetry with black hardware is a look that will always be in style. The dual vanity and full mirror allow for a couple to both get ready comfortably. The granite countertops add another beautiful texture, warming up the room.

The newly built shower features green and white hexagon mosaic tile with a double border on the floor and an elongated white subway tile with a handmade look on the walls. A mix of brass and oil-rubbed bronze metals were used for the plumbing fixtures and hardware.
