Ann Arbor homeowner was looking to remodel a bathroom for mother-in-law moving in. Merillat Masterpiece in Quarter Sawn Oak, Peppercorn finish. The countertops are Athena Granite, fixtures are in polished chrome, and the tile is all from Virginia Tile. The floor tile which looks like wood is Tabula Cenere 6x36 Rectified. It ties in beautifully with the soft brown tones in the shower of Stone Project Gold Falda Vein 12x24. The real show stopper here and focal point is the beautiful pepple accent running vertical to match with the floor - Random Cobbles Sterling MegaMix. The drop down bench on left makes it easy for Mom to maneuver in and out of the shower. Access - grab bars along the outside and inside shower walls provide needed assistance and serve also as towel racks.

Every so often we get the unique opportunity to collaborate with another designer. This quirky and elegant master bath could not have been more fun to be a part of. Meg Miller's incredibly cool vision for her clients' master bathroom was modern and bold, but refined, comfortable and inviting. The clients had specific needs for storage and the use of space, but didn't want anything to appear function-over-form. No amenities were overlooked: custom walnut cabinetry, heated floors, a digitally controlled shower and steam shower, and an all glass water-closet.

Complete remodel of large master bathroom with modern look. Espresso colored vanity with tall storage. Double undermount sinks with brushed nickel fixtures, marble quartz countertops. Shower with Carrara marble tile, elongated hex glass tile picture frame accent, ceiling mounted rain head. New modern can lights. Also created custom closet system with his/her sides. Updated bedroom with low pile modern carpet, pendant lighting, and new paint.

About five years ago, these homeowners saw the potential in a brick-and-oak-heavy, wallpaper-bedecked, 1990s-in-all-the-wrong-ways home tucked in a wooded patch among fields somewhere between Indianapolis and Bloomington. Their first project with SYH was a kitchen remodel, a total overhaul completed by JL Benton Contracting, that added color and function for this family of three (not counting the cats). A couple years later, they were knocking on our door again to strip the ensuite bedroom of its ruffled valences and red carpet—a bold choice that ran right into the bathroom (!)—and make it a serene retreat. Color and function proved the goals yet again, and JL Benton was back to make the design reality. The clients thoughtfully chose to maximize their budget in order to get a whole lot of bells and whistles—details that undeniably change their daily experience of the space. The fantastic zero-entry shower is composed of handmade tile from Heath Ceramics of California. A window where the was none, a handsome teak bench, thoughtful niches, and Kohler fixtures in vibrant brushed nickel finish complete the shower. Custom mirrors and cabinetry by Stoll’s Woodworking, in both the bathroom and closet, elevate the whole design. What you don't see: heated floors, which everybody needs in Indiana. Early 60's bath with original turquoise and pink toilet, sink, countertops and tiny shower gutted and reconfigured. Large, floor-to-ceiling, stacked subway tile. Glassed-in shower. All new fixtures and finishes. Beautiful new large-tile floor along with new lighting.
