Business Description
Merzbau Design Collective was formed by J.C. Schmeil (AIA, LEED AP) in 1998 with the goal of creating beautiful and lasting buildings that transcend the ordinary. We believe that design is a collaborative process, and feel strongly that each project should be a unique response to program, site and context.

The built in reading nooks are amazing! It is always a great idea to take an alcove, corner, or niche in a home and turn it into a built in reading nook.

As a kid, I was in awe of one of my friend's home library. In retrospect I realize how generous it was for them to let me sit there and read their encyclopedia. As a family doc, I'm always encouraging my patients to read to their kids and have books in their home. As Jody Thompson noted, kids will read if they see their parents enjoying reading and talking about what they read.
