Deck Your Table With Easy Centerpieces
Switch them with the season, the occasion or just your mood. For design lovers, centerpieces are a satisfying, low-commitment fix
I have always loved tabletop design. I think this goes back to when I was a kid and we would have gatherings with my large extended family. I remember walking into my relatives' homes to see the big reveal. There was always a set table with a beautiful centerpiece to reflect whatever holiday or special occasion was being celebrated. Centerpieces are great points of focus for us design junkies, because they can be switched out regularly. Compared with a new sectional or a kitchen remodel, these are low-cost commitments that pack a lot of visual punch.
The designs are endless and are limited only by imagination. There are seasonal and style-specific centerpieces to try in any home and in any room. Centerpieces can be used for a special occasion table or just to freshen up your room or outside area. Take a look at these great centerpiece ideas and imagine them in your home to freshen things up for the season.

Orchids make a great centerpiece. Planted orchids, arranged here in a concrete-inspired bowl, are known to last up to two months before their petals start to fall.
Get creative with your everyday items. Seashells and moss transform this tiered pastry stand. Can you see this as a centerpiece at a beach house celebration?
Vases aren't just for flowers anymore. Try hunting in your yard for greenery like a fern or palm. These single fronds make a great minimalist statement. Notice how the different-shape vases add to the sculptural feel of this centerpiece grouping.
Green and black are a winning combination. Simple and stunning, this 'Angelina' sedum is all you need against a terrazzo pot. This is a perfect look for a patio or sunroom centerpiece.
Consider repurposing pieces found at flea markets or antiques stores. This old trough makes a great oversize statement for this trestle table.
Feathers, anyone? This woodsy centerpiece got me thinking of fall and of leaves' turning colors. As the seasons change, so do our options for centerpieces. These warm-tone feathers arranged artfully in a decorative tin work great for a fall table design.
Bottles and jars (in this case, in an antique French bottle carrier) are great for blooming branches of any sort.
Palm leaves usually last longer than fresh flowers and provide a strong dose of color and texture. A wide-bottom vase with a narrow neck is a perfect shape for palm leaves or other single branches.
A long, tubular vase filled with stones and water is perfect for an orchid stem. The centerpiece is created by simply repeating the look with a trio of vases.
For outdoor dining, what could be more dramatic than a natural-gas fire feature as your centerpiece? This new twist on candlelight is striking and practical.
Play with scale. This oversize centerpiece makes a beautiful, bold statement in this outdoor loggia. This scale could work just as well for a centerpiece on a large entry or foyer table.
Do you have a pair of beautiful vases, but the opening is too small for flowers? Just place them on a table and put flowers in between. A perfect solutuion for those vases with an awkward shape.
