Thank you - I am in the process of house renovations. We extended our bathroom and had no idea on what to do with the wall behind the bath. I was told about the Houzz website and decided to go and have a look. Because most of my house is Asian inspired i went to this website and it was De javu. The bath and goose neck tap is exactly what I had even down to the tiles on the floor. I purchased a dark wood display unit and modified it ourselves. I could not be more happiers with the outcome. Thank you Houzz. »
smoda Hello sfriedmann can you please tell me more about the wall unit? You mentioned you modified it yourself. Where did you get it from? Thanks in advance. -D
Robin Rigby Fisher CMKBD/CAPS I'm glad you like this. It is a custom piece. This does not need to be expensive, bring the picture to a local cabinet shop, they should be able to help you. The wood is alder. Best wishes
Shannon Ggem ASID- Ggem Design Co LLC I keep coming by this comment on this serene bathroom and it makes me giggle a bit because I do staging like this in my photos, too and I never thought it could incite such passion!
I do it because I want to drive the overriding point of the space home quickly so people don't need to look long to "get it".
I totally get it here! I want to hop in that tub!! Stay passionate about function, and fire safety!
T-LITES VERY DANGEROUS - LOOKS GREAT, BUT DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN SET YOUR
HOUSE ON FIRE WITH T-LITES OR ANY OTHER CANDLE BURNING THIS CLOSE TO THE WALL ABOVE OR BEHIND IT?
PLEASE BE CAREFUL..... »
Jamieson Okay, I was i the process of responding when I needed my glass of red wine filled. I was invited to a friends place for dinner one evening, when I had to answer the "call of nature". Thank goodness I did as she had tea lights that started to ignite a fire in her little mocha closed in shelves! I gallantly (shrieking like a five hear old girl..) threw her shelves into her bathtub and doused them with water...she and I were both EXTREMELY embarrassed!!! Watch your tea lights people!
lynnecepin These look like they may be the non-flamable lights. They only appear to be actually burning but in fact thay are battery operated and totally safe.
Does anyone know what you would call the wall unit? I've searched "shadowboxes", but that only brings up small decorator type boxes. I want to build something similar myself, but don't know what to call it to search for instructions to build it. »
Anthony Giunta Jr. This is a very basic type cabinet, similar to the depth of an upper kitchen cabinet. It could be put together numerous ways depending on skill level and tools. It looks like the rolled up towels are the deepest object stored, so roll up one of your towels and add a little bit for play and that would be your "interior" depth. I suggest searching for DIY cabinet making. Even such a basic cabinet requires many details to come out looking professional but is within DIY scope
elley Does anyone know how the legs are finished and what kind of protection on them. I love the look but would they become disclored easily from water when you clean the floor?
did you check the prerequisites about pious images... - You should not place the Buddha (sacred) image BELOW anything else. It should top the whole shelf. At least, move it in lieu of the 3 pots and place also the small LED-lit 'candles' on each side.
However, a buddha image is definitely not to be placed in a room where one exposes his nudity (or you'd have to turn it 180° while you show...not a fully respectful option anyway). Better leave it in the entrance or circulation preceding your spa area, on a dedicated altar »
For a small dose of Balinese charm, just apply the color scheme and materials. Here, a sleek bathtub is turned into an exotic item thanks to its wooden legs, while a simple storage cabinet gets the Indonesian treatment with Balinese accessories.
11. It's hard to envision a more relaxing environment than a Zen, Asian-inspired bathroom. Houzz users loved the modern feet on this free-standing Balinese-inspired bath. The wall shelf placed above the tub was another point of interest.
