What is the thickness of the marble used for the tub and counter? Thanks. »
Bill Fry Construction - Wm. H. Fry Const. Co. When you're looking at the photo in a slideshow put your cursor over the photo area (not the word area). You'll then see a grey button on the lower left to "Add to Ideabook." Click on the button and you'll be prompted to create an ideabook. You can also name your ideabook if you want and you can create multiple ideabooks. What a great bathroom to choose for your first ideabook! :) Rhoda
bernard5110 Did you have trouble with your marble pieces soaking up the color of the grout? some have complained of that with off-brand marble. and what color grout did you use? thanks!
Are marble floor tiles a bad idea in a bathroom with a shower? - Someone told me that marble is NOT a good choice in a bathroom, as they become very slippery when wet and they are easily chipped. Is this correct? »
Cercan Tile Inc. Hi Lois, Marble is a beautiful classic choice for a bathroom. Just ensure you protect it with an impregnating agent (not a topical sealer) that is both oleophobic (repels oils) and hydrophobic (repels waters). Some Impregnating agents even increase the co-efficiency of friction allowing a polished stone surface to become less slippery. Marbles have been used in bathrooms (public and residential) for thousands of years and will over time form it's own natural protection. One thing to keep in mind is that marble reacts to acidity so use ph balance soaps to clean your bathroom and keep your perfumes and nail polish removers in your bedroom. If you are still concerned with slippage then consider using smaller tiles (as stephkirbo mentioned) so that the grout lines provide you with some traction. Chipping is not something that happens easily once a marble is installed. The traffic in a bathroom is light in the sense that you are not dropping heavy pots on it or travelling through it with heavy furniture. Hope this helps.
The palladian is BMoore and not modified or color matched with another brand, correct? - I tried a color match version, and it came out a more green than i liked (although a few other pictures show it greener so perhaps it's lighting). Really like how it looks here in your picture the best! »
Liz Levin Interiors It is the true BM Palladian Blue which has a greenish hue to it in certain light. The gray tile and lower natural light in this pic showcase the blue. But it's more blue than green - go to BM for the original formula.
Lyn Keyes I used Palladian Blue in my entire downstairs (Open Floor Plan), I absolutely love it! The color actually changes depending on the time of day. We are building another house and I definitely plan on using it again, just haven't decided where :-)
Great Bathroom - Floor Tile / shower separation - What did you use at the floor/wall border? it looks like the same material used between the shower and floor. Is that just cut marble tile?
Thanks, »
jenny0316 This looks to be Bianco Carrara. The floor is 12x12 and the shower looks to be 4x12 . We just did our bathrooms in Carrara Marble as well. We got it all from a site www.carraratiles.com . It came out amazing. I attached a picture of my little power room.
Liz Levin Interiors I don't recall the dimensions of the shower- it was part of a new construction house so I didn't have all the plans. There is a tub to the right where the vase sits. A double window there as well above the tub. The water closet/ toilet is to your right not shown.
Very nice bathroom. - Do you think this would work in a standard size bathroom. 7 x 6.
The toilet and 24" sink are on one wall to the left as you enter. And the tub is at a right angle to this wall. (you see the tub straight on as you enter the room. I plan to use a shower curtain.) I also have a lower than normal ceiling 7'4". I don't know why but the dark wood mirror looks good. If I use the dark wood mirror what would I put above the toilet? Or perhaps I should put a dark wood picture frame above the toilet and use a metal framed mirror over the sink. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. »
Calacatta Marble & Mosaic I agree with Fiorano Tile. That's carrara on the floor and calacatta on the shower walls. Still a very nice design. You can see the difference between these two stones on our site - www.calacattamarble.com
I love the chandelier where can I buy it? - I have been looking for a chandelier that will work in a bathroom, I would love to know where I can purchase it.
Thank you~ »
What are the dimentions of the corner shower? - I am in the process of remodeling a small bathroom and am considering a corner shower. It would be very helpful for me if you would consider sharing this information. Thank you. »
