Patchwork cowhides. The most exciting things coming out in hide flooring are some of the patchwork options designers are creating. These are no longer simply stitched patchwork squares, but unique patterns and combinations, from herringbone, to chevron, to running bond. The craftsmanship is gorgeous, and the styling can be incredibly creative.

Molding is what you make of it. Instead of traditionally applying it only where the walls meet the ceiling, have some fun with it by creating designs on the ceiling itself. Don’t worry about the designs being perfectly balanced across the ceiling: these diamond shapes aren’t in a perfect repeat, making them all the more interesting.

1. Provide comfortable seating for guests. There are two types of situations in which you might have clients stop by your office: for creative strategy sessions, or for business meetings. To further dramatize your tray, install cove lighting (indirect lighting built into ledges, recesses, and ceilings). Lighting professionals recommend installing cove lighting at least 18 inches from the ceiling and 6 feet 8 inches from the floor.
