skyblue712 I would like to know this too. I would so love to make these for the living room. They look like romans but I love that they don't pull in at the sides.
Barn Light Electric Company That antique fixture looks great. If you are still looking for this fixture, but are unable to get you hands on a similar antique take a look at some of our Schoolhouse Pendants like our Fairfax School House Pendant.
marble color? - Hi, I love this kitchen! Can you tell me if you used Carrera or Calacutta for your marble? It looks like a cool white Carrera, and looks even cooler, I'm sure, against the hint of yellow that the cream is pulling. But I love it all together. Thank you for any info you can share. :) »
Katie Emmons Design Hi, this is an old cutting board that was a pullout in the original kitchen (this is a remodel). We just refinished the original cutting board and reinstalled.
Katie Emmons Design Thank you for your interest. I wish I could tell you where to find one. I designed this hutch and had it custom built by a local furniture builder.
Katie Emmons Design It was the client's sweet dog...but thank you. That shot wasn't planned at all....he just kept creeping into the shots, and laying down. So I told the photographer to go with it. Thank you so much for your comment.
additional pictures - Do you have additional pictures of this kitchen? I would love to see how the china cabinet marries into the rest of the kitchen.
Can you please post them or direct me to where I can find them?
Thank you. »
Katie Emmons Design I do have additional photos of the kitchen, which are already posted on my photos on Houzz. But, unfortunately, I don't have any showing the view to the right of the pine hutch. I can tell you that to the right is the corner of the kitchen.
memama This looks relatively easy to sew, all straight seams! The difficulty is in handling the large pieces of fabric. If you're up for it, I'm sure there's a helpful soul at a decorator fabric retailer that could give some great advice. Not a project for a beginner, unless you make a practice one out of very inexpensive fabric first. It appears to be a long rectangle with the ends folded and "ribbons" added afterward.
Katie Emmons Design I would love to give that to you....but in this case we had the contractor color match existing hardwoods from the rest of the house. And typically I have the contractor mix stains to achieve a good color. I will tell you that to achieve this rich of a stain color, your contractor will probably either have to wet sand the floors first or put a tinted coat of poly on top. Wet sanding achieves a deep rich tone. I hope that helps a little.
Katie Emmons Design I drew the window and valance to scale with measurements designating width of the panels, width of the striped "tape" (actually striped fabric made into tape), and the lowest and highest point of the scallop for the fabric workroom. With all of those measurements and my drawing to follow, they were able to create a pattern. My objective was to give the windows some shape without interfering with the view.
briklen lane interiors As Monque says it can be made as a workable roman. However, I would not recommend a workable roman for this particular shade style. This style will constantly need primping when you lift and lower. This style valance with a roller or cellular shade under it to control the light (if needed) would be perfect!
Monique Jacqueline Design I agree with Briklen! It will need adjusting every time it is lifted. But in answering the question, if it can be done shade, most definitely!

How do your floors hold up with your dog? - I have a dog exactly like yours. What kind of floors and how do they hold up with the dog, i.e. do the floors get scratched and beat up? »
Window Manufacturer - Can you please tell me who makes these windows? They look beautiful. I am about to purchase a similar one over my sink and would love to find out this manufacturer. Thanks! »
Traditional doesn't always mean incredibly decorative. In this vintage-style farmhouse kitchen, simple roman shades fit the bill perfectly. An elegant patterned fabric creates a soft roman shade for a more casual, yet traditional window treatment, adding to the country formality of the space.
I like the built in casing surround for the fridge - also like the use of footers and "valances" on the cabinetry. Juxtaposition texture and variation with the wood is also fresh.
