Mahoney Architects & Interiors Please enjoy the other images of this kitchen on this site. From the photographer's point of view the cooktop would be behind you. The refrigerator, double ovens, and microwave would all be to your right.
1naturaldiva Thank you for your prompt reply ... Now I will start doing a little research in my area to find a cabinet shop and/or carpenter to custom make this price for me ... I absolutely have to have this ❤
Reico Kitchen & Bath The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) recommends that you have at least 42" of work aisle space for 1 cook and at least 48" for multiple cooks. Some will try to get away with 36' or less and it can be done but you may create uncessary traffic and congestion in your primary work areas. Appliances may also require certain clearance as well which you must consider. Think about a dishwasher being open and having enough space to still manuever around it. Take some time to think about who uses and how you use your kitchen to make the best decision for you.
I am being discougaged by most people in the counter top field of using Carrera. Marble. They say to porous a - I see marble being used a lot and I have been discouraged I keep hearing of moisture and acidic acid , red wine and so on stAning it. I lov he look , should I be dissuaded on practicality? If so, what would be he color and product that would look the most like Carrera marble. I appreciate your help. »
1981janine I just learned of a new product called "Clearstone." Essentially, it's a resin layer applied over the marble that prevents etching or staining. It's not a sealer. There's even a 15 year guarantee. The website is www.clearstoneusa.com. It's not inexpensive; however, it may be cheaper to have that applied to a carrara rather than using a quartz like Torquay. I'm planning to use it in my kitchen remodel, and I'm hopeful it gives me the best of both worlds- beauty of marble with the functional qualities of quartz!
Clearstone, LLC Clearstone allows you to use the pretty marbles and not have the acid-etching problems associated with marble. It's a clear coating thats poured on after installation. Safe to use in a kitchen. It also prevents staining. Don't know what the moisture problems you have reffered to could be. www.ClearstoneUSA.com
susanrhill34 is the island free standing or does it need to be secured to the floor? if not secured, do you think without the shelve below it could be freestanding and also have enough space to slide a couple of bar stools under it?
we have an island that is roughly 4'4" by 8" 4". There is room to have a table/island like what is shown in the pic...would pairing a smaller island like 18" x 5' visually work?
E. T. Moore Manufacturing, Inc. This would be the equivalent of our select grade heart pine.. I don't see any nail holes which makes it suspect if it is reclaimed or not.
My daughter needs a separate area to prepare allergy friendly food for his highly allergic son, can you please tell me where this island can be purchased and what is the top surface made of? Thank you. »
What is the edge detail of the marble on you island and the perimeter cabinets? - Love the look ... Having a hard time on selling my husband on an ogee edge. He likes "the cove". I know there are many variations of the ogee... Maybe I can sell him with your kitchen. Beautiful! »
Love the space! Do you know dimensions of the 2 rooms? - My L-shaped kitchen is 11.5 * 11.3 with a half wall and walkway leading into the dining room, same as this picture but the half wall (6.5 long) is on the other side of the room, the right of this picture and there is a bearing wall on the right. We (hubby and I) are debating/arguing between an island or peninsula but this has both. Just wondering size and if it would fit in our space?? Thanks!!!! »
Is the microwave built in to a standard depth wall cabinet? If so, what's the micro make & model? - Is the microwave built in to a standard depth wall cabinet? If so, what's the micro make & model? »
This looks similar to layout of my kitchen..only much more beautiful! Do you have photos of the refrigerator area? Would love to see how that area looks too... Thank you! Stephanie »
This completely open island allows the legs to be seen three dimensionally. The apron along the perimeter underneath the marble makes this island look and feel like a piece of furniture, as does the shelf along the bottom.
Tip: This style leg could also work in a semi-recessed fashion, but you have to be careful when transitioning shaped legs into square panels - if you're thinking of doing this, ask you cabinetmaker or designer for a 3-D sketch or detail so you can see what it will look like.
PROJECT: Replace ugly and stained tile on top of kitchen island with thick slab of honed marble or Caesarstone. I want it to look like this, but be about twice as thick.• Measure — DONE: 56"x26"• Call Clark to find out the name of the remnant place in Decatur• Hit the stone remnant place in Decatur• Choose slab, schedule appointment.
I'm really drawn to the narrowness of this kitchen island. It serves as an additional work surface but is small enough to allow for larger traffic areas — a huge bonus for chefs working with children underfoot.
