Inspiration for a mid-sized mid-century modern 3/4 white tile and ceramic tile ceramic tile, black floor, single-sink and wainscoting bathroom remodel in Los Angeles with shaker cabinets, blue cabinets, a two-piece toilet, white walls, an undermount sink, marble countertops, white countertops, a niche and a built-in vanity

To create enough room to add a dual vanity, Blackline integrated an adjacent closet and borrowed some square footage from an existing closet to the space. The new modern vanity includes stained walnut flat panel cabinets and is topped with white Quartz and matte black fixtures.

This midcentury inspired bathroom features tile wainscoting with a glass accent, a custom walnut floating vanity, hexagon tile flooring, wood plank tile in a herringbone pattern in the shower and matte black finishes for the plumbing fixtures and hardware.

After reviving their kitchen, this couple was ready to tackle the master bathroom by getting rid of some Venetian plaster and a built in tub, removing fur downs and a bulky shower surround, and just making the entire space feel lighter, brighter, and bringing into a more mid-century style space. The cabinet is a freestanding furniture piece that we allowed the homeowner to purchase themselves to save a little bit on cost, and it came with prefabricated with a counter and undermount sinks. We installed 2 floating shelves in walnut above the commode to match the vanity piece. The faucets are Hansgrohe Talis S widespread in chrome, and the tub filler is from the same collection. The shower control, also from Hansgrohe, is the Ecostat S Pressure Balance with a Croma SAM Set Plus shower head set. The gorgeous freestanding soaking tub if from Jason - the Forma collection. The commode is a Toto Drake II two-piece, elongated. Tile was really fun to play with in this space so there is a pretty good mix. The floor tile is from Daltile in their Fabric Art Modern Textile in white. We kept is fairly simple on the vanity back wall, shower walls and tub surround walls with an Interceramic IC Brites White in their wall tile collection. A 1" hex on the shower floor is from Daltile - the Keystones collection. The accent tiles were very fun to choose and we settled on Daltile Natural Hues - Paprika in the shower, and Jade by the tub. The wall color was updated to a neutral Gray Screen from Sherwin Williams, with Extra White as the ceiling color.

The cabinets are stained in Alder Wood. The countertop is Ceasarstone in Pure White. The shower features Kohler Purist Fixtures in Vibrant Modern Brushed Gold finish. The flooring is Large Hexagon Tile from Dal Tile. The decorative tile is Wayfair “Illica” ceramic. The lighting is Mid-Century pendent lights. This unfinished basement utility room was converted into a stylish mid-century modern bath & laundry. Walnut cabinetry featuring slab doors, furniture feet and white quartz countertops really pop. The furniture vanity is contrasted with brushed gold plumbing fixtures & hardware. Black hexagon floors with classic white subway shower tile complete this period correct bathroom!

Bathroom renovation included using a closet in the hall to make the room into a bigger space. Since there is a tub in the hall bath, clients opted for a large shower instead.

Our clients purchased this home intending to retire in it. As such, they needed to update the Master Bath anticipating any potential physical needs or challenges. They wanted to maintain the mid-century modern feel and elegance without losing functionality. The narrow room size required a new layout, working within the footprint, to increase the shower size and storage. Photo By David Bader
