great question, there are lots and lots of exterior/weather rated fabrics designed for outdoor use. the best resource for fabric options is likely thru your local drapery installer. if you are south east Florida and need resources

What are the floors made of and what is the best material to use on porch floors like this in north Florida
This is the closest to the old traditional decks I see on porches in Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah and I'd assume that's what was used in North Florida, too.
