A space that was only used as a pass through now has become a daily destination. Located in pastoral Great Falls, VA, just outside of Washington D.C., this sunroom needed to be a welcoming year round retreat for an active family of four. Inspired by resort lifestyle, the space was reconstructed using the same footprint as before, adding floor to ceiling windows. Air conditioning and underlayment heat under new wood-look porcelain tile were added to ensure the room could be enjoyed no matter what season. Sunbrella fabrics were used on the settee and chairs that will stand up to wet bathing suits and barbeques. Benjamin Moore’s Sapphireberry 2063 60 was painted to bring the blue sky in on even a cloudy day. Designed by Laura Hildebrandt of Interiors by LH, LLC. Photos by Jenn Verrier Photography. This cozy river cottage, designed by Emily Hughes, IIDA, has a laid back transitional vibe. Whimsical florals, trellis and checkered fabrics from Designer's Guild, Schumacher and Jane Churchill give a light-hearted, whimsical style to the furnishings and window treatments. Natural fibers and distressed, antiqued finishes bring nature into the interiors of this riverside getaway.

"After" Photo #2... New furniture, CR Laine sofa and swivel fireside chairs were purchased. End tables of silver leafed iron with glass inset from Chelsea House flank the sofa. Lamps, in a "Charleston Grate" motif, in navy and soft white, compliment the navy accent pillows on sofa . The double mirror of mahogany and cast brass with antique gold accent from Theodore Alexander is the anchor for flanking future artwork along the long wall. An antique Persian Nain rug provides the pattern, color and definition of seating area. The contemporary glass and chrome cocktail table was the only piece of furniture the client wished to keep. It worked perfectly in his new room.
