Southam Design Inc The vanity counter-top is called Avignon Light Limestone. To install a wall-hung vanity you must first place additional backing and support in the wall in which it will be fastened to otherwise, you are correct, it will pose a concern! If you don't want to rip of your exiting wall to put additional backing, another solution is to build a knee-wall (typically 4-1/2" deep) under the vanity to support it. That way the vanity still looks as though it is floating/suspended but is actually supported by the knee-wall - make sense??

Southam Design Inc A barn door would be a good solution to your problem. It will provide roughly the same amount of sound-proofing as a regular door while looking super funky! Good luck with your project.
