“I was building a garage and needed a drawing for the county to approve my building permit. Steve was very helpful and understanding as I was trying to get things updated quickly to get the permit. Steve was able to make all the updates needed quickly and make it look exactly how I wanted for the county to approve the building permit. Very easy to work with, on time and within budget. Steve was fantastic, in fact I am planning on using him again for anther project I hope to put in later this fall or early next year.”

“Jenny Pippin of Pippin Home Designs can design anything. ...from huge homes to small ones. She listens to her clients, designs liveable homes and takes advantage of any and all views. She is highly capable, artistic and yet reasonable. She designed our home about 20 years ago and I wouldn't change a thing. It's on a sloping lot with only a small section that is flat for the house's footprint. It was a winner from plan to inception. I still love and live in every square foot.”

“After purchasing lake front property in Charlotte NC, we entered into an exhaustive search to find the right architect to design our dream home. We knew what we wanted in a custom home and Tim Johnston of CL Helt Architect Inc. was able to create a design that incorporated our needs on balance with our budget. He worked with us through every phase of concept and design providing all of the renderings and models needed to fully conceptualize the scope of the project. Tim Johnston brought a strong modern esthetic that we had been seeking and an understanding of the complexities of building on waterfront property. Tim incorporated passive solar design tailored to meet the specific requirements of our exposure and latitude. Tim came up with creative solutions to accommodate the challenges of our lot and the limitations of our budget. He positioned the house to protect access to our boat ramp and take full advantage of the lake views, while designing a basement home that minimized costs and always kept in mind the practical requirements of custom home building. We have enjoyed our working relationship with Tim Johnston and the entire CL Helt Architect Inc. team. Our new home incorporates every detail that we had hoped to achieve. We would not hesitate to use their services again in the future and plan to recommend them to friends and family.”

“Roger and his team worked closely with my husband and me to create the home of our dreams. I had a vision for many years and they listened carefuly, made realistic and valuable suggestions, and drew my dream better than I could have dreamed it. The design for our lake waterfront lot was a happy blend of my desire for sleek, modern with the HOAs idea of contemporary. We fit in nicely with the neighborhood, but have sleek linear shapes and smooth textures. We were building on a very difficult lake front lot with extremely steep terrain and natural gulleys that held standing water. Roger and his team worked with engineers to make sure we lived "on the water, not in the water", creating a design that allowed the graders to push the natural running water around the house and down the hill rather than into the house. This gave us the wonderful opportunity to have access bridges rather than sidewalks - a unique and very eye pleasing addition. Throughout the design they kept true to my vision while helping us add the features necessary to age in place. It is a beautiful design and we will live here forever. Roger Layman Architecture made the experience enjoyable and low stress. We would recommend this team to anyone who wants to build heir dream home.”

He has been timely in his work and responses. My husband spent 8 hours with him during the first meeting. “I have a mountain home with a multi level metal roof and a large wraparound deck. I wanted to screen in a significant part of the deck to create a space with a tongue and groove wood ceiling covered by a metal roof that would blend into our existing structure. Two highly recommended screening companies turned us down stating there were too many roof angles to accomplish the job with any quality result. After some research I hired Kirk Bowden, architect and owner of Bowden Environments LLC. Kirk is a talented professional. He took his time, paid close attention to our needs and goals and was a pleasure to work with. Kirk created a design that would give us the functional space we desired while making sure it would blend in with the current structure to look as if it was built with the original home. Kirk also recommended the right contractor he knew would get the job done correctly. He recommended Adam Spencer of Lifesize dwellings. The architectural drawings were completed and Adam excepted the challenge. The end result far exceeded our expectations. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to work with Kirk Bowden and I highly recommend him for any of your architectural needs Karen Matluck MD”
