What is controversial about it? It's not something one could survive on--you'd spend all your time grubbing through the dirt to find the underground seeds. They're a bit smaller than an average pea and look like a big fat lentil with a dark brown skin. Boiled, they aren't bad tasting. The flavor most resembles a chick pea to me. I've never tried the above ground seeds; they are quite little.

If you are interested, I could go out and look to see what I can find before they sprout in the Spring or wait until they begin to sprout and dig up some seedlings.

Going through a good read on buried treasures...'tasty tubers' of the world.

I am looking for Jerusalem Artichoke and I have Hog Peanut to offer - but it's not up yet. I can dig up several plants as soon as it has put up leaves to help me relocate it. Let me know if you are still looking for it and are interested.
