I've always liked the way this looks. I think it is like an adult tree house. You just need a licensed contractor to do this for you. Definitely not a DIY project, at least not for me. Good luck with your project. Charmean Neithart

I use the simple one shown here most often. This is an easy dyi project. materials consist of stand 5/4 treads and 3 - 2 x 12 stringers routed with slots to accept the treads.

Any lumber yard will have 5/4 yellow Pine stepping and obviously 2 x 12's. From there it is all a mater of layout. You need to know the measurements from the finished floor to the lofts finished floor and the angle. I tend to use 33% off vertical, but you can field cut it match you available space. I bottom cut my angle on the two by 12 level it on the floor and spike it to the 2nd floor box. then use a level to lay out the tread route cuts and the top angle cut. The spacing of the treads should be less than 8''. This means you have at max spacing 16" spacing between treads in each row.
