Weeping willow resurrection?

As a result of Hurricane Sandy, I lost a large, older Weeping Willow in the back (well away from the house so never any invasive root problems). With trees down all over, I decided to to use some of the more interesting broken trunks and logs as planting area dividers. Only, I recently noticed that the willow tree trunks are sprouting. Will they eventually die down or am I inadvertently propagating the willows all over. Wouldn't mind having a few Willows in the back again but don't want to take over! Thanks in advance.

Spray the ones you don't want to grow with roundup. They're very aggressive, and are not going to "die down."

if they root in.. they will survive..

but usually.. they die.. when the log desiccates ... which can take a long time ....

poplars do this also ...

just roll them over every other month .... or hit them with roundup ....

they root rather easily... cut a few sprigs.. put them in a pot .. tent them.. and plant them in fall .. where you want them ... heck.. they might not even need the tent ...
