As far as I know S.grotei is just a species. I have never heard of a species being a chimera. Here is the description from FC2:
S. ionantha subsp. grotei (S 5b) Single pale mauve to deep blue-purple, 1-4 per peduncle, rarely 6. Leaves broadly oval to elliptic, medium green above, pale green or tinged with purple beneath, edges coarsely wavy or toothed, upper surface with appressed hairs of variable length. Rosette to trailing. Saintpaulia species..

There is a sport of S.Grotei that is a chimera. But you will not get a chimera from planting the leaf of that sport to my knowledge. You either have to root a sucker or bloomstalk just like other chimeras. Someone that has it and has gotten it to produce a chimera from a leaf might correct me. I was never able to.

Angela. Let me know if it does not grow a chimera bloom and I will send you a cutting. That was my leaf. I bought the plant a week before at the Tenn Gesneriad Society plant sale. What I wrote on the label is what the members told when when I bought it. I bought 3 or 4 different species. I also have leaves down to see if they grow a chimera plant...it will be fun if they do.
