Practically speaking, how are allium cepa scallions different from allium fistulosum and allium chinense for cooking? I'm so new at this, I'm not even sure I'm asking the question in a way that makes sense! Thank you.
Not sure about A. chinense, but A. fistulosum greens taste better than A. cepa in my opinion. But A. viviparum (Egyptian Onions) have an even better flavor than A. fistulosum, in my opinion.
If you are growing them in your own garden, then don't pull them. Just cut the greens about 2 inches above the soil, and the bulbs will send up more greens.
