I had one container germinate out of 3. They were purchased from Park seed. The two traded containers haven't done squat. This fall, I'll direct sow them because other in the cottage garden forum say that's the best method for my zone.

Hmm. I guess I will have to see what happens with mine. I have two lasagna flats of them that have germinated, but not very densly. I sure hope they make it!

I have "Pacific Giant hybrid mixed colors", "Pacific Giant hybrid Black Knight", "Blue Mirror" and "Dwarf Catherine series light blue" sprout for me so far.

I traded for a mix, no idea whether they are comm. or home collected. They seem to be coming up quite nicely and look pretty thick. I'm hopeful. I've never done them before.

Last November I ordered 3 packets of Delphinium seeds from Dowdeswell's in NZ. They included a free packet of mixed colors, so I decided to sow 2 packets immediately and hold the other 2 in the fridge until January -- just to see what would happen.

We had a warm spell in December, and the 2 jugs that had been sown decided that it was time to germinate. I panicked and moved them onto an unheated porch when the temperatures went dipped into the teens. They went back outside in mid-March and are growing well. The 2 jugs that I sowed in January germinated in late March and are going gangbusters.

This was the first time I'd tried Delphiniums and I'm amazed at the good germination rate and overall health of the seedlings. I take no credit for this -- it's all about the seeds. Now, if I can get them to flower . . . . .
