Are you suggesting dipping the bulb? You suggest watering with methylene blue, but if it kills by contact, I would think dipping might be more effective. I've not heard of methylene blue being used as a miticide. A Google search revealed nothing on this. Ever consider a dilute bleach solution as a dip?

I have had my first run in with mites on a funky Purple Rain. I did not see any and the grower says they treat for them, but the spiky flowers were the result of mites. I keep a close eye on that bulb and don't see any.

Huh, I think I found somewhere that bulb mites live deep within the bulb and they are difficult to eradicate with contact solutions. It is hard to know if they ever come up from the center of the bulb... Do you know?

If they do, then we just put some oil on all openings and some sort of poison in the oil (non toxic to humans). I think methylene blue is safe to use on plants at acquarium recommended concentrations (except that it stains terribly). The question is fr how long would it be effective and is it worth risking it stops being effective at killing mites?

other ways of killing mites mentioned in the previous web page (in the other bulb thread) were kaolin, rapeseed oil, canola oil, many essential oils and plant extracts (have to look them up), silica and sulphur in water solutions,rubbing alcohol, heat...

how do you control the temperature in the oven? (my oven doesn't go below 50C at least that is the starting temperature on its scale of measure...
