I think they will sprout. Maybe you should keep the containers in the shade rather than in the sun.

I don't know enough about plants for warmer winter than Chicago. Will have to wait for those with more experience with it.

it is like 50F min to 70F max now a days and usualy rains two three times a week.

à¹à¸³Then yes, Primula will sprout. It usually sprouts when temp. is in the low 70s.
Dunno about wallflowers or pansies. Give it a try. Won't hurt.

thanks a lot. i will give a try to primulas/primrose. here we get them as bedding plants in winter but costly.

waiting for more inputs. last year i started pansies in autumn but they did not flower in winter and came to flower in spring.
is winter flowering pansy different from summer one?

I don't think so. I think it's the time when you sow the seeds that determines blooming time. Why not sow some in , say, late August or in September? Hey, try sowing in succession maybe a few weeks apart. How does that sound? It might bloom in winter. Time to experiment!

i had busy time in office and not time for garden. i have ordered seeds for wallflowers, primula/primrose and pansies. i am also going to sow calendula.

how about sweetpea? can they be sown now?

I sowed some Primrose and wall flower, I will have to see what else I have going and get back to you. I took a gamble with some things, but they all seem to be sprouting just fine. Now to see if they over winter.

I have been thinking of sowing some flowers for fall too...
