I'm assuming you are handy and have access to basic tools like a saw and drill. If it were me, I'd just search for photos using Google, and decide which design/proportions I liked best. Just type in: "shishi odoshi" +picture
Also, here is a link that gives a little info on how to make your own:
Thanks for the link kudzu I found a design that I really like so I'm going to tackle this project. My hands are well accustomed to basic tools...lol...if not I'll get the SO to help...:o) Thanks again
efine50 You're welcome...and when you're done, please post a photo. I build a lot of things from bamboo and am always interested in seeing something new. Have fun.
I got one at the hardware store last year. It's made of Durium, some radioactive substance extracted from Chernobyl. ;) Oops, I mean a polyresin compound. {{gwi:416122}}
I am a big fan of shishi odoshi's - I did significant experimentation and created a squidoo lens on shishi odoshi design. Its pretty comprehensive. One of the books I recommend to read for creating beautiful outdoor water features is "Outdoor Water Features:16 Easy-to-build Projects For Your Yard & Garden" from Alan & Gill Bridgewater. The book can be easily found at amazon is something like 10 bucks...
