I'm assuming you a miller or hive top feeder like the one pictured at http://www.beeequipment.com/products.asp?pcode=688
You simply place the box on top of the hive bodies and fill both compartments with sugar water or hfcs (high fructose corn syrup). This time of the year most will mix the syrup 1:1 meaning 1 pound of sugar to 1 pound of water (which is fairly close to 1:1 by volume as well).
