YES! I have Nasturtiums JUST for the Cabbage Whites. :) The butterflies will oviposit on the undersides of the leaves. The eggs are sort of football-shaped and the larvae are green and are well-camouflaged against the leaves and stems.

Awesome! thank you for the prompt reply. I also wanted to try these in salads, but thats a bit of a conflicting goal isnt it? I got them mostly for butterflies anyways and I just wanted to see how they taste.

Go ahead and try 'em in salads. I don't care for the smell, myself. They smell like mustard greens, which I do like but for some reason, Nasturtiums are really strong or should I say, odoriferous...

Well I just learned something new. I have nasturtiums and cabbage whites do flitter about the garden. Will have to look closer at the plant now.

Another plant to grow for the whites is spider flower (Cleome). I used to grow cabbage for them, but it attracted alot of wasps that seemed to know that they could find caterpillars on these plants, so they patrolled daily and ate the poor little cats. I don't think the wasps have "caught on" to the nasturtiums and cleome :)
Maybe the smell of the cabbage is strong enough to lure the bad guys in.

I have had great unplanned luck with cabbage whites and nasturtiums as well. Thanks for the reminder to plant more this year!

The caterpillars will mostly be on and eat the leaves and you will be mostly eating the flowers - so it can be good for everybody!
