I didn't know bugs could even survive in Alaska! Try a pesticide that doesn't kill plants. Anything should work really. But in case it is dangerous ask whoever you buy it from if it will hurt your plants.

sounds like either scale (if you have a lot of ants running around) or mealy bugs.
You might need to by either white oil or some kind of plant alcohol to drown or dry those out.
they populate very quickly so you need to ask at the plant shops asap.
