Looks like AL butterfly missing abdomen?

The butterfly looked strange to me, and when I took a close look likes the abdomen is missing or really small. Will try to get a closer look later, but here's a picture.
Why would this happen? The food plant, parasite, disease?
It's the first one that has eclosed, so I assume it would be one I collected as an egg.
