Cries of admiration: Oh, oh, that is the most flamboyant and gorgeous flower!

Just a minute while I pick my jaw up from the ground!... slurp!... click!... sproing!!! ...there, now that's better, ...WOW! Jeff I like Opuntia flowers, and I've never seen one as beautiful as that before. If only I could get my hands on one of those down here!. BTW the colours remind me a bit of my claret cup pic I posted a day or so ago.
I'm now inspired to dig out a few of my opuntia flower pics and post also.

Jeff, That is outstanding. I have one Opuntia and it has never flowered for me. I wish it would. Its growing beautifully but won't flower.

That is an exceptionally grown Opuntia. Have you ever grown any O. pulchella? Mine are still small, supposed to be growing on caudiciform roots, stems very thin. O. pachypus is a really nice Opuntia, I've never been able to grow it here. Again, really nice.
