How big are your trees? Often with mites it is enough to give your tree a good wash with the hose or in the shower. Mites prefer dry and dirty (dusty) environments. If you are going to use the oil, just be sure the temperature is below 80F, or it will burn your leaves.

All are in containers and no more than four feet high. It would be much easier to hit them with water. Our temps high temps are over 90 now. I may do a combo of both

I spray after the sun has passed, and I rinse the tree the following morning before the sun hits it again. I repeat this process every three days, for three treatments, or until the mites are gone. Stay on 'em closely!

Hit them with neem right at sunset. I took some meyemike advice from January and hosed the canopy down after about twenty minutes. I will hit them again in a few days. Will also update on any fruit drop or bloom drop.

The next round I will let the neem sit over night before hosing

The reason I rinse is that I've gone overboard in the past and had some heavy Neem build-up on the leaves of my citrus...to the point where I had to physically wash the excess oil off. Seemed as though I was suffocating the plant, so now I use a lighter dose more frequently, with rinsings between. You can't go wrong with Mike's advice...he's the reason I got into citrus, and I consult with him regularly.

Last time I Neemed was during my Blood Orange's early Spring bloom. I'd heard that the Neem might affect the blooms, but I had no choice...as both the flowers and the mites were on the tree, and I wasn't about to give the mites a foothold while the flowers finished setting. Despite the Neem treatments, the flowers continued to bloom and set fruit.

how about misting the the plants in the morning when it seems to be dry? like a preventative management?

I was actually going to start a post to ask who regularly waters the canopy as a preventative measure? I think I may start some in the mornings before the sun gets to high.
