I will chime in since it seems everyone else is being shy.

It coudl be due to many different things such as sun, soil, water, temps ect. They will be stunted for a bit because they were transplanted, but should start to take off soon if they are in good conditions.

No real answer for you, just have patients, they are tough and will start grow soon.

What kind of dahlia is it?

I just had to spray for leafhoppers today. I don't remember having them this early, but I could see them trying to hop away from my spray. I noticed that a few of my plants had stunted growth and checked for the hoppers by brushing my hand up under the leaves from the base of the plant on up.

Thanks for the responses! They indeed started to grow when they were put in the ground. I got brave and even pinched them a bit, so they are back to 6 inches again. :C) At least I know that they are growing.

The question about what kind of dahlias they are is significant. Dahlias grow to differing heights. Are they dwarf? Are they the type to grow 4-5 feet?

I find that planting them in the ground produces the best flowers, unless they are in a truly very large planter.
