chemical burn on corn plant

pbyrd

My huge corn plant was absolutely beautiful and then it got all this white tiny powdery looking stuff and some of it looked like teeny tiny spider webs or cotton all over it so I took it out on the patio and sprayed it with organic bug killer that was not supposed to be harmful to the plant. However, now the leaves at the top appear to have a chemical burn and they are dieing. Could have been a combination of the chemical and the sun. What should I do? Can I prune the tops out of the plant. It is a two stalk plant. Both tops are burnt. If I pull the burnt leaves off I will have about a foot of stalk at the top with no leaves. I don't want the entire plants to die. I have no clue how to prune a corn plant. Please help !!!!!
