You can cut the stems the seeds are on but donÂt cut any of the foliage on a fescue. To tidy them up in the spring you can gently pull the dead blades out. You might want some seedlings though as I have heard that Blue Fescue is relatively short lived. That explains why it has never lived more than three years for me and I have sharp drainage.
Does anyone know if they divide well?

They divide just fine. Best done in spring or fall. You can also keep them healthy longer by an annual haircut, down to 3-4" also in spring or fall.

I shear mine back to a small tuft every year and have ever had any problem with them. they come back with fine blueish foliage and I've had them for over 6 years. Maybe this is the trick ?
