    Possibly Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis).

    Blood root for sure. In early April there would have been white flowers.

    I think this grows pretty much all over Michigan...have lots of it in our woods here in Saginaw County.

    Looks like Plume Popoy. I got some by accident from a neighbour. It loves sun, and is VERY INVASIVE.
    I 've grown to love the plant for its follage, and although it was too invasive for where it was, I opted to plant it on its own in a seperate area. It can get 6 ft tall, with stalks for seeds ( Like a pompas grass). Mine have not bloomed as of yet.

    Naw... it's not plume poppy, it's definitely bloodroot and it's wonderful. It grows very nicely along with all the other native woodland plants.

    Hi, l'd say Bloodroot or Mayapple.

    Mayapple is simiar in size but looks more like a mini-palmtree than bloodroot. Here's a pic of mayapple:
