You'll find comments elsewhere here to direct you to any of the Helleborus orientalis hybrids, now known as Helleborus hybridus. These are easy long lived plants that now come in a huge variety of colours, buy in flower in the spring so you know what you are getting(I'm sure other members more local to you can direct you to good local nurseries). Their need are simple, again listed elsewhere here in detail. Part shade good rich deep soil, not waterlogged but moisture retentive and you should have total success.
The species tend to be a little trickier but both H. argutifolius (corsicus) and H. foetidus are very easy and have even more to offer than the garden hybrids....provided you like green flowers.
Propagation again is easy, once you have a couple of plants you can start growing rom seed, but more of that later.

I planted some Hellebore plants last spring and this fall. How long until I can expect them to bloom? So far they are just sitting there. Is there something I can do to improve the soil conditions? Our soil is sandy and acid. They are planted near a rhododron in a shady area. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
