Limelight will start setting buds any day now...always in June and then it goes FAST.

This is my first year with Limelights. Bought a larger one late last year and 3 through mail order early this spring, which are planted and quite small. They are all doing well. The large one was in bloom when I planted it in late August, so I don't expect to see buds till later this month. I am wondering if the smaller ones will bloom at all. Has anyone experience with starting a small limelight?

I have many limelights. A friend gave me a very small one last year, and it bloomed. The bloom was almost larger than the plant. So cute! But that is probably the exception, not the rule for blooming that small. They are so hardy and are gorgeous.

My established Limelights are not budded. They are later than other hydrangeas.

Yes - always later than other hydrangeas. I still have the blooms that I cut from mine last fall when they were beautifully flushed pink!!! Amazing!

Oh, Nikkos bloom on old wood, Annabelle and Limelight on new wood. Annabelle is the earliest blooming hydrangea on NEW wood to my knowledge so don't worry. And yes...even small plants bloom very well....I have 5 now.
