We have just moved here to Carriere, Ms and want to establish a small family orchard. Mixed fruit and berries. I was going to order some stock from TyTyGa, an on line nursery, but read some negative comments. I would appreciate any advice on where to purchase dwarf fruit trees that will grow in this area (near Picayune). I am not adverse to purchasing online, but prefer reccomendations. Thanks in advance, syd

The Pine Hills Nursery on the Kiln Delisle road is back in operation. (Just N of I-10)

Most of what they have right now is trees. (I noticed some fruit trees) (They lost teir green houses in Katrina.)

I would also touch base with the Crosby Arboretum. I assume they've re opened as they're farther inland. They usually have a number of tree and plant sales in the spring. If they're able to have them this year. The advantage with them would be the plants can handle our summers.

I agree you should not consider TyTy--I've never read so many negative comments about a nursery, including my own! We were very happy with things we got from Ison's Nursery and Vineyards in Georgia. They seem to have good reviews on GardenWatchdog too.
