James, Thanks for the directions to whats looks like a great source of seeds. If fact I just ordered some. I do have one question that you or someone else can answer for me. Can I plant watermelons, cantalope, and cucumber near each other. Some people tell me my melons will tast like cukes or visa versa. I thought it was only a problem if I saved the seeds to replant next season.

Last year I had Hale's Best cantalope, African winter squash (from Democratic Republic of Congo - want some?), and cucumbers growing either next to each other or nearby.

The cantalopes were the best I have tasted and confirmed by my coworkers and neighbors. African winter squash and cucumbers tasted great too.

I learned last year that one should not plant sweet peppers and hot peppers next to each other. Otherwise the sweet peppers taste hot.

I have read that you should separate heirlooms of one variety (e.g. tomatoes) by a few hundred feet or just plant one variety to avoid cross pollination and contamination of the gene pool.
