Lilies do need a number of weeks at cold temperatures to leaf out. Lilies *intended* for spring sale have already been prechilled. Either "homegrown lilies" are dug up by the growers in early spring (prechilled by nature) or Dutch wholesalers prechill (refrigerate) before sale to local retailers. You could ask your store how the lilies were treated. If they bought "fall leftovers" and didn't refrigerate them (lilies intended for fall sale would not be prechilled) that could explain your problem.

Is there any way that they are just slow? What have your temperatures been the last month?

The last couple of weeks it has been warmer here.Most of my lilies that I planted last spring have been popping through the ground for the last couple weeks. The ones that I planted in the fall are just starting to poke through.
These University of Saskatchewan lilies are a brand new asiatic lily bred for their 100th anniversary in 2007. My SIL picked them up for me at a garden show either this year. They also had live plants for sale as well.Which is a good sign.
I guess time will tell if they decide to grow this year or not.

Shelley, I've had this happen quite a few times with spring bought lilies, plant them in the ground asap, they may not poke up this year but will next year. Sprinkle in some bulb booster and don't plant too deep either.

Most likey they are sitting because its producing roots instead of pushing up stem growth right now.

Thanks, Sharon. I was hoping that they would grow well and multiply because I know that you like these ones too.
It kind of makes me mad that they are not growing. These were some of the priciest lilies that I bought this year.
What can you do?
I'll get them into the ground tomorrow.
