If those percentages are correct, that is crazy (in a good way!). I think most here would be excited if the percentages were more like 10%.

I think you need a really good mulching mower/blade to get the best results. For example, with our Toro Super Recycler mower, I canÂt even see the clippings because itÂs they are mulched so well. With my old mower, that I use every now and then, the Âclippings look more like ÂblobsÂ, so I end up with lots of clumps laying on the grass. ItÂs impossible to remove every little clump, so I find I end up with small dead spots on the lawn if I donÂt remove them, or mow over them again and again.

And here I was, just being lazy...

Good point about the type of mower. I use an electric on my small lawn and I couldn't find any clippings to remove even if I wanted to do that.

I do use a push mower sometimes, like for hot-weather trims (easier than wrestling with the cord and it's a breeze to just lift over obstacles like small perennial borders) and the push mower leaves clumps. But even those I've just left to get watered in (wouldn't try that when the grass is long and lush in June, though).

Most newer mowers come with mulching blades which is the case with my Craftsman mower that also has an attachment that covers the hole where the rear bag goes. Although my St.Augustine is very thick you will be hard pressed to see any clippings.

I never raked them anyway, and our lawn grows almost TOO well!
