One of my sisters planted a Georgia Belle peach this year (was a container plant and not bareroot) and it has a few growing fruits on it right now. The one thing that has been a pain are the japanese beetles that have been swarming around her yard including all over her peach tree. She has sprayed and covered the tree (to keep the deer away), so we'll see how that goes. She also has a young pear tree (planted by the previous house owner several years ago) that does have a bumper crop this year and her sour cherry did pretty well this year too.

Carol, my trees are loaded too, but they are starting to split. So much water. To harvest a crop, you should start treating them for brown rot just before they ripen. Just a couple of treatments makes a big difference.

It's been pretty dry at my place for the last week or so, maybe that's why the fruit is ripening so nicely. They're just starting to soften up, I might be harvesting this weekend.

We had a nice crop on our Reliance peach, for the first time since planting it a few years ago. Just waiting for them to soften - it seems that the local deer were too! Last Saturday, we went out to check the tree and found every single peach gone, a few pits on the ground, and some of the leaves chewed. Grrr!
