how long ago did you plant them? hot pepper seeds take longer than many other plants to sprout. some of my bhut jolokas took 3 weeks to break the surface, others only took 7-10 days.

For germinating you dot even need soil, or much of it. The only thing you need is heat. I would put, for now, a desk lamp with a CFL bulb inches away from the soil. It'll heat it up and sprout in a week or two.

I planted them in the first week of April. The problem properly was the warmth. It has been cold here and at night the temperature went well below 15ð.

Today I sowed again. I'll wait three weeks to see if it goes better now.

if you're planting them outside and it's cold, no wonder you're having bad results. sprouting seeds want between 70-85f. not sure what that is in celsius. start them inside in paper cups, then move them outside when they get going.

I started mine outside, and kept them outside the whole time, so there was no 'hardening off' to be done. but I live in florida. the rules are different for me.

I know they can not be outside in the Netherlands, so I sowed them inside. But as I understand it, it was even to cold inside. :-(

I'll keep them inside. Only on hot summer days I'll bring them outside.

If you have a warm area, cable box or next to a heat vent or heat source, some fridges on top get warm. Use one of those locations or buy a heating mat. I used my DVR worked great.
